Dr. Emmanuel Tanui is a specialist pharmacist working at the National Public Health Institute in Kenya, with over ten years of experience strengthening public health systems from a one health perspective. As the National Antimicrobial Resistance focal point, Emmanuel is dedicated to combating the growing threat of Antimicrobial resistance. In his role, he spearheads initiatives aimed at developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to address AMR, working closely with healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and other One-Health stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and response. He has led the successful development, launch and implementation of the AMR National Action Plan 2023-2027 among other key strategies. He is passionate about establishing functional health systems to support implementation of AMR policy and national action plan at all levels.
