Dr. Christine Manyasi has dedicated her career to improving neonatal healthcare in Kenya. She pursued her medical education with a focus on paediatrics and neonatology, driven by a passion for ensuring the survival and well-being of vulnerable newborns. With a 12-year experience in Paediatrics, Dr. Manyasi currently serves as the County paediatrician in Nairobi and as a neonatologist at Mbagathi Hospital. One of her significant contributions to the field was spearheading the establishment of the first neonatal critical care unit at a Level Five hospital in Kenya. This initiative has been crucial in providing specialized care for premature and critically ill neonates, dramatically improving their chances of survival. It has served as a learning area for those wishing to establish such units at lower resource levels away from the National referral Hospitals. She has an interest in neonatal research and is the site PI for the Neobac and NEOSEP studies at Mbagathi Hospital As a newborn healthcare advocate, she is a member of the core MPDSR team for Nairobi County, as well as a member of the Intercounty MPDSR initiative. Both focussed on raising awareness about the challenges faced by newborns in Kenya
